A post-doctoral position is immediately available in the lab of Dr. Yana Bromberg in the departments of Biology and Computer Science Emory University Atlanta. The Bromberg lab is purely computational studying molecular functionality at all protein- enabled scales.
We are seeking a highly motivated scholar to continue training in an exciting research laboratory with a focus on exploring molecular functionality encoded in genome data. Specifically in this project we are looking to build deep learning models to explore the alphabet of very short protein tiles across all aspects of life. We will evaluate the uncertainty of short representations produced by existing protein language models (pLMs) and propose means of improving these to fit our tasks.

This work will improve our understanding of the fundamental properties and organization of the pLM learned representation space and provide deeper insight understanding and discovery of the structural functional and evolutionary organization across protein space. This work will be carried out in collaboration with Dr. Amarda Shehus lab at George Mason University.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Computational Biology Bioinformatics or related fields. Candidates with non-bioinformatics degrees but possessing the necessary computational skill-sets are welcome to apply.
