The Role:
Simtra is seeking highly motivated undergraduate students for our inaugural Spring Co-Op Program. We look for diverse students with inquisitive minds and the desire to challenge themselves. Our co-ops will work closely with industry professionals and learn quickly how to problem solve on real-world projects that contribute to clinical research and manufacturing addition to on-the-job experience we offer learning sessions with top leadership site visits to local projects and social events.

The Opportunity:
The Utilities Engineering & Maintenance (Facilities) teams maintain and improve systems such as compressed air generation & distribution chilled water boilers/steam clean steam water for injection (WFI) and other systems. They support HVAC/air-handling units that service the aseptic processing zones. Other responsibilities include monitoring work orders maintenance planning and root cause analysis of utility failures. The implement reliability-centered asset management (RCM) risk-based maintenance (FMEA) and state-of-good-repair programs for utilities and facilities.

Responsibilities/Projects:
The Co-op supports the design operation and reliability of the critical systems that keel the sterile manufacturing environment running. They will gain hands-on exposure to clean utilities (i.e. WFI clean steam compressed air) facility HVAC systems chilled water steam generation and building management systems (BMS).

Key Activities will include:
- Support daily operations of critical utilities
- Assist with equipment monitoring data collection and trend analysis to ensure system reliability performance and compliance
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering on preventive maintenance programs
- Support project work - upgrades energy reduction capacity expansions and sustainability
- Develop or revise documentation

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical Chemical Industrial Biomedical or Electrical)
  • Enrolled in a co-op program
  • Potential ability to complete 2 co-op rotations (Spring/Summer) preferred not mandatory
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook)
  • Strong interest in pharmaceutical manufacturing utilities/facilities engineering and regulated industry
  • Excellent organizational oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail including the ability to accomplish a task while demonstrating a thorough concern for all the areas involved.
  • Proficiency in data analysis
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others in a proactive positive and constructive manner
  • Highly motivated self-driven individual with passion working within pharmaceutical industry
