Job Title: Interim Director of Accounting
Location: Los Angeles CA (on-site 5 days per week)
Duration: 23 months to start

Overview:
A well-established cultural and educational organization in Los Angeles is seeking an Interim Director of Accounting to support the finance department during a leadership transition. The organization operates a dynamic public-facing venue and is looking for an experienced accounting professional who can provide steady hands-on leadership while maintaining a collaborative respectful work culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee all accounting operations including monthly close reconciliations and financial reporting.
Manage and mentor a small team (Staff Accountant and Senior Accountant).
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data within ERP system
Collaborate with the CFO to implement process improvements and reporting enhancements.
Address accounting complexities and integrate reporting updates within the ERP system.
Maintain compliance with GAAP and organizational policies.

Qualifications:

Strong accounting foundation (CPA and/or public accounting experience highly preferred).
Non profit experience required
Proven ability to manage a small team with professionalism and empathy.
Excellent attention to detail and strong technical accounting skills.

Preferred Experience:

Experience in a public-facing industry such as museums performing arts hospitality or entertainment strongly preferred

Familiarity with investment accounting.
