The Los Angeles County of Education (LACOE) is seeking analytical and solutions-driven financial leadership professionals with expertise in school accounting fiscal administration and financial systems to serve as the Assistant Director School Accounting and Disbursements.
The Assistant Director School Accounting & Disbursements plans organizes and directs a wide variety of fiscal administration and financial services provided to local educational agencies; implements enhances maintains and supports the financial management systems.
The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following
Knowledge:
Principles and practices of accounting budgeting auditing and fiscal administration
Federal state and local laws relating to California school accounting and finance
Principles practices and techniques of organization and business management in public agencies
Computer systems relating to business accounting and financial management
Fundamental employment laws codes and regulations including EEO FLSA FMLA and Cal/OSHA and applicable provisions of collective bargaining agreements
Competencies:

Decision Making Choosing optimal courses of action in a timely manner
Legal & Regulatory Navigation Understanding interpreting and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations

Required Education and ExperienceEducation:A bachelors degree in accounting finance business administration or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Experience:Five years of experience in school accounting and fiscal administration including three years of experience supervising staff engaged in such activities.
Additional Requirements:A valid California drivers license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to obtain transportation between job sites is required
Selection ProcessCandidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a performance assessment and/or a technical interview
