Job Summary

An academic tutor will be asked and expected to tutor student-athletes in various courses. All tutoring will take place in the McClendon Center for Intercollegiate Athletics and will range based on student-athlete need and tutor availability. Tutoring sessions will include 1-3 student-athletes and are expected to last 45 minutes.

Required Education: Athletics Tutors must meet the skills requirement below. Must attach transcript reflecting minimum grade requirement or degree earned.

Skills:

  • Musthave earned a B or higher in the specific course or have been award a degree in that area.
  • Must be capable of tutoring the courses specified.
  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to effectively communicate course material while engaging with our student-athletes in a positive manner.
  • Must be willing and able to communicate and build relationships with a varied group of students.
  • Must be willing and able to gain and maintain working knowledge of university Conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Must be willing and able to adhere to standards of conduct for Athletics Academics Tutorial Staff.

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to communicate verbally hear and seeincluding color depth perception and clarity.

Supervision: None.

Department Preferences:

  • Experience working as a tutor for undergraduate or graduate students.
  • Experience working with a diverse group of students.
  • Working knowledge of university Conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
