EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
One year of work experience equivalent to the next lower level (Medical Examiners Records Technician I)** including or supplemented by work experience demonstrating aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.
**Experience equivalent to the next lower level (Medical Examiners Records Technician I) involves independently performing specialized clerical and technical medical records work to include: transcribing and reviewing autopsy reports for accuracy and completeness; compiling and integrating laboratory and investigative reports into official case files; preparing finalizing and distributing autopsy and investigative reports in compliance with legal requirements; maintaining and updating records cross-index and statistical data systems; preparing statistical and informational reports; responding to inquiries and releasing information and records to authorized individuals agencies and the public in accordance with established policies; and providing overall general clerical and transcription support to pathologists and departmental staff.
Typing Proficiency:
This class of work requires you to type at 40 or more net words per minute. Your proficiency may be evaluated by the appointing authority as part of the selection/interview process and/or during your probationary period. Failure to meet the proficiency requirement may result in removal from the eligible list and/or termination from appointment.
