Job Summary
KLAS-TV 8 News Now the CBS affiliate in Las Vegas Nevada is seeking a versatile journalist to produce news sports and digital newscasts including special projects and live events. Do you have the skills and instinct to craft energetic and dynamic newscasts The ideal candidate has proven strong performance in breaking news and navigating live sporting person will be a solid writer who takes all sound video and graphic elements and crafts them into compelling newscasts from start to finish. The candidate will recognize the importance of contributing and incorporating digital content and social media to engage viewers. This is a full-time full-benefit position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Write solid active & compelling news copy.
- Build strong newscasts using informed news judgment combined with showcasing techniques.
- Strategize newscast building based on knowledge of our audience composition and interests.
- Ability to quickly adjust newscasts to accommodate breaking news.
- Coordinate with the digital team to contribute content to other platforms.
Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelors degree in journalism or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexible to work any shift.
Work Environment:High stress environment with deadline pressures. Must be willing and able to work any and all shifts including nights weekends and holidays and be on call as needed.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
The New & Sports Producer must be able to sit conduct telephone conversations use electronic mail write letters and memos conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups make decisions without supervision make decisions that impact the results of co-workers work in close proximity to others and work indoors in environmentally controlled addition the News & Sports Producer must be able to handle control or feel objects tools or controls. Repetitive movements are required. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
