Job Summary
Job Title: Registered Nurse CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room)
Location: Gastonia NC
Assignment Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Days 8-Hour (6:45 AM 3:15 PM On-Call Required)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment in Gastonia NC. The RN will assist in complex cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures ensuring safe efficient and high-quality patient care throughout the perioperative process.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care during open-heart thoracic and vascular surgical procedures.
Scrub and circulate in the CVOR as assigned.
Prepare the operating room and necessary equipment for specialized cardiovascular cases.
Collaborate with surgeons anesthesiologists and other surgical staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection control standards.
Participate in call rotation as required including nights and weekends.
Required Experience & Skills
Active RN License (North Carolina or Compact State).
Minimum 2 years of recent CVOR experience required.
Must be proficient with the following procedures:
CABG (on/off bypass)
Valve replacements (Mitral/Aortic)
Bentall procedures
Pulmonary embolism and lung cases (VATS thoracotomy lobectomy biopsy)
Hybrid and TAVR procedures
Balloon pump and Impella management
Flexibility to assist in other ORs when required.
Strong teamwork critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Facility Overview
12 Operating Rooms including 1 Hybrid OR.
Average of 3540 cases per day.
Call Schedule:
12 weekday call shifts (3 PM7 AM) per week.
1 full weekend call every 4th weekend (Friday 3 PM Monday 7 AM).
Shift & Schedule
Day Shift: 6:45 AM 3:15 PM (8 hours)
On-Call: Required as per rotation.
Assignment Length: 13 weeks.
