Role Overview

Thearriving Senior Lawyer willplay akey roleat the heart of willbe a blend oflegalstrategyand hands-ondelivery working closely alongside the Head of Legal andGeneral Counsel.

Intermsof strategyyouwillassistwith the growth and shape of thedepartment as well aslegal policiesstrategiesandframeworks thatboth protect and enhancethe willassistwith the optimisationof legal processeswillsupport theimprovement and development of the companys core legaldocumentationanddrivea culture oflegalknowledge andthoughtacross non-legal members of thebusiness.

Additionallyyou will devise and executestrategies on a case-by-case basisfor topical issuesthat may arise or long-term legal projectsorgoalsthat are to be achieved.

Day-to-dayyou will be integral to the performance ofinternalteamsand the needs of clients and will certainly includesupportingtheactivityof the lending teams astheyattemptto structure assess andexecute largeand complex REFtransactions. Ourclient has a broadrange ofnew borrowersand existing clientswithin the portfolio who havecomplexborrowing needs andsituations.

In addition youwill play akey role insupportingthefunding teams with activitythat supports thesuccessful duediligence onboardingmanagement and offboarding offunding partners and investorsas well as the portfolio managementfunction whichalso includes the collections and recoveries team.

Responsibilities

• AssisttheGC and Head of Legal with legalstrategy and departmentalgrowth
• Support the development & optimisationof legalprocesses and policies
• Enhance thecompanys legal documentportfolio for core areas of activity
• Assistwith the managementandoversight of the externallegal panel
• Undertakenegotiations on behalfof the companyto achieveoptimumresults
• Agreecommercial relationshipswith business partners that supportthe legalstrategy
• Ensure the business alwayscomplies withthe relevant governancerequirements
• Horizon scan for changes in laws and regulations & update policies and procedures
• Undertake thorough duediligencewhererequiredonnew or existing relationships
• Support thecompliance teamswherematters of risk blend with legal obligations
• Support the lending teamswith deal assessment and transaction execution
• Supportthe funding teams withlegal requirementsfor institutional funding & investors
• Assisttheportfoliomanagement function withloanrestructuring orrefinancing
• Assist theC&Rteam withloanstrategiesfor recovery including litigationifneeded
• Supportbroader legal matters effecting thebusiness
• Train and upskill operational units to improve business legal knowledge and reach
• Play a key role in the development optimisation of contracts and legal documents
• Respond to inquiries andassistin preparing legal and regulatory reports
• Assistwith the developmentofthe legal culturethroughupskilling efforts
• Representthe firm inlegal circles and drive the brand accordingly

CandidateRequirements

• An experiencedREFLawyerwho is registered withthe SRA
• A minimum of4 years PQE
• Highlyconfident when structuring and negotiating on complexreal estate loans
• A good understanding of wholesale funding and investormanagement
• Experienced indeveloping legalstrategiespoliciesand processes
• Confident whendevising andexecutingcontractsloan& investor documents
• Anoutstandingnegotiatorand anexemplarycommunicatorin all aspects
• Proactivequick to spot and tackleopportunities orissues
• Ambitious and keen to grow with the firm

On Offer

Our client is ideally looking to pay up to c150kas a basic salary of the ideal individual relevant to offerscouldalso be consideredfor exceptionalexperience in thespace.

Salary willbe complementedby accessto ourclientsfavourable bonus scheme too which cansignificantly boost annualincome.

Due to the central nature of this roleit willlargely bebased in our clients Central London officeswith requirements totravel as needed in line with theduties ofthe role.
