Lab Chemist II - Monday - Friday - Pay: $30.00 - $32.00 an hour
Summary
The Lab Chemist II is responsible for performing qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses and experiments to support production quality control and compliance initiatives. This role involves preparing testing and evaluating samples while operating and maintaining analytical instruments in accordance with company regulatory and Health & Safety standards. The Lab Chemist II ensures accurate documentation promotes continuous improvement and upholds Clean Harbors commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Conduct analytical testing of samples following all operational safety and compliance standards.
- Accurately complete all associated documentation such as calibration logs run logs and analysis reports.
- Calibrate maintain and operate laboratory instruments and equipment in compliance with the facility Chemical Hygiene Plan.
- Properly manage and dispose of waste generated during laboratory processes in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Review and maintain familiarity with laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and complete required annual training and quizzes.
- Maintain a clean organized and safe work environment while monitoring chemical and supply inventory needs.
- Train and mentor new team members as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support laboratory and facility operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Chemistry or a related field preferred.
- 35 years of relevant laboratory experience; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Preferred certifications: 24- or 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and annual refresher DOT training.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations and safe laboratory practices.
- Proficient with computer applications and laboratory software systems.
- Solid understanding of chemistry mathematics and analytical testing techniques.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs climb ladders and perform physical tasks as required in a laboratory setting.

The posted salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target for this role. Final compensation may vary based on factors such as location experience skills and business addition to the base salary some roles may be eligible for bonus or incentive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
