Summary of Job Duties:

This full-time non-tenure-track Instructor position includes teaching in developmental first-year and intermediate composition; contributing to curricula and assessment; and participating in departmental college and university service and governance. This position may include teaching face-to-face and/or online. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education & Experience

  • Masters degree in Rhetoric and Composition Writing Studies Technical Communication and/or Professional Writing Creative Nonfiction Public Administration English or other related discipline.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Prior composition teaching experience with an emphasis on first-year students;

  • Experience teaching diverse populations of students;

  • Organizational written and oral communication skills;

  • Professional writing experience;

  • Online or hybrid experience.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teaching in-person and online;

  • Work positively with faculty staff students and the community;

  • Participate in department university and community service and governance including service on the departments Composition Committee as well as assessment and professional development;

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Teaching experience in a college setting.

  • Ability to teach composition courses face-to-face and online;

  • Demonstrate a commitment to student retention and success.
