The position is based within the newly funded LOEWE network Lipid Space to dissect the spatial lipid organization and is attached to the research groups led by Dr. Sebastian Scheich and Prof. Dr. Andreas Weigert within the Department of Hematology / Oncology of the University Hospital Frankfurt and the Institute of Biochemistry I. Besides a technical component of running our Nikon SIM/STORM super resolution microscope and an ONI Nanoimager (optics opto-mechanics beam alignments) the current project is dedicated to establish super resolution microscopy technologies for lipids. The labs are embedded within the Frankfurt Cancer Institute (FCI) the Medical Faculty Frankfurt and are funded by grants from philanthropy and governmental organisations. The labs are part of a vibrant research environment within the Frankfurt research community and maintain lively international collaborations.
Your Role:
- The current scientist position is embedded in the LOEWE Lipid Space consortium as one of two central method development projects
- Utilize and establish super resolution microscopy for lipids in fixed and living cells and tissues
- Development of appropriate stains and methods to visualize lipids in super resolution
- Running and in part maintaining the instruments
- Working at different project parts within the consortium
- Bioinformatic analysis and quantification of microscopy data images and other datasets
- The applicant is expected to hold a PhD in Cell / Molecular Biology Physics Applied Physics Biophysics Physical Chemistry or Optical Engineering with proven experience on (advanced) light microscopy
- Bioinformatic background in image analysis using R MATLAB and / or FIJI
- Strong interest in highly collaborative work across disciplines
- A high level of motivation flexibility and responsibility as well as very good communication skills in German or English are expected
- Due to legal regulations valid proof of measles immunity / measles vaccination is required
