Civil Engineer (5-10 Years)

Coffman Engineers is seeking a highly skilled self-motivated Civil Engineer with 5-10 years of experience providing comprehensive civil engineering services from initial feasibility through design permitting and construction support for our Bay Area office. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic have a desire to work and grow with a multidiscipline engineering team and be willing to have fun.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
• Current registration as an EIT required
• Registration as a Civil Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred
• 5 years of experience in civil design permitting and construction administration in a variety of market sectors related to site development
• Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic calculations; technical studies; and preparation of public improvement grading drainage stormwater management and utility plans
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Experience in a multi-discipline setting preferred
• Ability to work on multiple tasks with minimal supervision
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Team player with the ability to think critically and solve problems
• The motivation to learn the latest technologies and practices to enhance your professional career
• Excellent time management skills

We are looking for people who work effectively with all personality types is interested in developing close relationships with our great clients and who desires to grow professionally and stay involved in the activities and exciting trends in the industry. The position will involve a mix of technical design and consulting construction support and new project scoping and proposal writing. We work in tight-knit teams that support each other and are managed with a healthy work-life balance that is focused on development and caring for the whole person. 

The position is hybrid where the staff are in-person three days a week (minimum) and have the option to work remotely two days a week. The optional remote workdays of the week are currently Monday and Friday. These guidelines are reassessed periodically.

Compensation and Benefits

• Approximate Base Salary $87k-125k based on experience
• Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate
• Competitive end of year discretionary bonus based on company/team/personal performance
• Hybrid Work Schedule (subject to change)
• 401k with maximum of 5% Contribution Matching for 9% Employee Contribution

The Bay Area office of Coffman Engineers was established in 2014 after Coffman had been providing engineering services in this area for many years. Since then we have grown organically to include four different engineering disciplines working in many different market sectors. Weve built the culture of the company in a distinct way.

Our Bay Area office is conveniently located near Lake Merritt in Oakland in a 9-story office building.
Our office space is 3 blocks from a BART station and close to a wide variety of restaurants and breweries the lake itself and all that downtown Oakland has to offer. Also located nearby are San Francisco ocean beaches and redwood groves. We welcome the dedicated and the driven to join us.
