The mission of the Secretary of States office is to serve the public by meeting its legal responsibilities of collecting securing and communicating information that enhances commerce ensures the integrity of Louisianas elections and preserves presents and makes accessible government information essential to Louisianas operations and its recorded history.
We are seeking a versatile communications pro to plan create and distribute essential information across our Commercial Elections Notary Archives and Museums divisions. If you thrive on variety and want to make a real impact on public understanding this role is for you.
AN IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES:- Communicating Effectively:The ability to relay information correctly and appropriately to connect people and ideas.
- Displaying Expertise:The ability to exhibit specialized skills or knowledge gained from experience or training
- Driving Results:The ability to identify important goals and work to achieve them.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in public relations journalism marketing content creation social media management or graphic design; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR
A bachelors degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
This position crosses agency areas and performs communication functions for the Commercial Elections Notary Archives and Museums Programs. The incumbent of this position is responsible for planning development preparation and dissemination of various information materials news releases and projects for the Department of State regarding all ongoing programs.
- Manage social media platform initiatives.
- Manage the agency website content.
- Act as a media contact and respond to media inquiries.
- Provide guidance/assistance to staff on dissemination of information for specific projects.
- Design informational materials such as advertisements press kits brochures and fliers.
- Promote voter education through the Voter Outreach program.
- Meet with the media Legislature public and private agencies regarding agency initiatives and educational programs.
- Writes and prepares commendations proclamations and honorary certificates.
