Job Summary
Manual Machinist /Manual Lathe Operator
Location: Mayfield KY
Shift: Weekend (Friday-Sunday 6am - 6pm)
Weekend shifts (36 hours worked paid for 40 hours)
Pay: $19-25 per hour based on experience with $1 shift differential

Job Purpose
A Machinistis responsible for a variety of machinespecific functionsfrom settingup equipment loading materials and operating machinery to monitoring and optimizing efficiency maintaining machines and performing quality checks. A machinist will typically have the knowledge and ability to operate and maintain several machines.

We are seeking candidates with varying levels of qualifications and experience for our open positions. We require a minimum 1-2 years of experience or a relevant technical degree.
Preferred Skills
The position requires physical strength to lift 50lbs and stamina for working in tight spaces while installing or repairing machinery. Employees must stand for most of the day and frequently walk squat kneel and climb. The role involves exposure to high noise levels and vibrations necessitating the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and the ability to read schematics. The work environment varies between indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to temperature extremes and weather elements as well as oils and lubricants. Teamwork is essential to meet production goals and strict adherence to safety policies is crucial due to the safety-sensitive nature of the job which involves working near live tracks and heavy equipment.

- Operates various machines as part of the production process to produce parts for the locomotive industry in accordance with AAR customer specifications company guidelines and checklists. Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with PR safety policies.
- Operate manual machines including horizontal mills engine lathes and manual grinders to produce locomotive motor parts and axles.
- Use precision gauges and instruments such as micrometers to determine and follow customers specifications.
- Maintain specifications by observing drilling grooving and cutting including turning facing knurling and thread chasing operations taking measurements detecting malfunctions troubleshooting processes.
- Adjusting and reprogramming controls sharpening and replacing worn tools adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities within time standards allowed.
- Maintain specifications by observing drilling grooving and cutting including turning facing knurling and thread chasing operations taking measurements detecting malfunctions troubleshooting processes adjusting and reprogramming controls.
- Sharpening and replacing worn tools adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Troubleshoot and repair various machines.
