What awaits you/ Job Profile

Join BMWTechWorks India within the Digital Product Engineering cluster Unit Product Data. You will be at the frontier of Pedestrian Protection systems focusing on the design integration and validation of the PedPro system (active bonnet) including acceleration sensors and the pressure tube sensor (PTS).

  • Responsible for the end-to-end FEM simulation workflow to optimize sensor installation positions and to ensure robust functional integration of pedestrian protection sensors along the front end.
  • Collaborate with BMW senior technical specialists (FGI-5) and the simulation department to drive homologation documentation for pedestrian protection and low-speed pendulum scenarios.
  • Engage in cross-functional activities from early styling phases through mature development participating in design rounds construction rooms and BMW meetings.
  • Interface with CATIA/CAVA-based workflows to set up assessment models define testing areas (KEFLA head intrusion areas and barrier positions) and exchange models with the simulation team.
  • Maintain and align requirements for pedestrian protection and low-speed crash in the Prisma system.

What should you bring along

  • A strong background in mechanical engineering with hands-on experience in crash/impact FEM simulations.
  • Proven experience with LS-DYNA (or equivalent) and standard BMW CAD tools.
  • Solid understanding of geometry basic CAD skills and the ability to interpret and influence design decisions.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to effectively participate in BMW meetings and cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with CATIA/CAVA workflows and experience with model exchange and testing-area definition is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic international environment and manage multiple stakeholders.

Must have technical skill

  • Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
  • Extensive experience with LS-DYNA FEM simulations for crash and pedestrian protection scenarios.
  • Proficiency with standard BMW CAD tools and basic CAD capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of geometry tolerance bands and sensor placement considerations in bumper assemblies.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining homologation documentation and translating test results into design actions.
  • Good communication skills for BMW meetings and cross-team collaboration.
  • Knowledge of BMW design processes and development milestones.

Good to have Technical skills

  • Experience with PedPro-related systems (active bonnet) and acceleration sensors PTS integration.
  • Knowledge of Prisma pedestrian protection and low-speed crash requirements.
  • Familiarity with CAVA models CATIA-based assessment modeling and early-stage styling inputs.
  • Experience in front-end assembly design changes (pendulum stoppers front-end components) and the impact on sensor integration.
  • Experience exchanging models with simulation departments and coordinating across multiple derivative programs.
