Job Summary
Do you see engineering not just as design but as innovation in motion Were looking for a talented Senior Design Engineer who will thrive on turning technical challenges into efficient solutions. Youll be part of a forward-thinking team that designs and optimizes ammonia (NH₃) and CO₂ refrigeration systems ensuring performance compliance and client satisfaction through precision creativity and technical depth.
Design develop and optimize industrial refrigeration systems in line with SANS 10147 and other industry standards
Perform heat load calculations equipment selection and detailed system integration
Prepare Bills of Materials (BOM) cost estimates and tender documentation
Source and evaluate supplier quotations to ensure cost-effective and high-quality design outcomes
Support project teams through technical input commissioning assistance and client communication
Conduct site audits and SANS 10147 performance assessments to identify improvement opportunities
Mentor junior engineers ensuring quality and consistency across all design work
Skills & Experience:
Minimum 5 years experience in the design of industrial refrigeration systems (NH₃ and CO₂)
Proven ability to produce complete compliant and efficient designs
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to technical detail
Experience with tendering and bid documentation processes
Excellent communication and client liaison abilities
Proficient in MS Office; AutoCAD Plant 3D experience advantageous
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining high standards
Qualification:
BTech or in Mechanical Engineering (essential)
Category C SAQCC Designer Certification (essential)
Additional training or certifications in refrigeration or energy systems advantageous
Valid drivers license and willingness to travel as required
