Parts Manger Oversees parts department operations to ensure accurate inventory timely fulfillment cost control and excellent customer service for internal technicians and external customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the parts department: receiving stocking ordering issuing returns and documentation.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels through cycle counts audits and reconciliations; minimize shrinkage and obsolescence.
- Forecast demand and place purchase orders with vendors to ensure availability and optimize carrying costs.
- Build and maintain vendor relationships; negotiate pricing terms lead times and warranty/return policies.
- Process parts sales to customers and service technicians; ensure correct pricing invoicing and timely delivery or staging for service.
- Supervise train and schedule parts staff; set performance expectations and conduct evaluations.
- Implement and maintain parts management systems (PMS/ERP); ensure data integrity (part numbers descriptions bin locations pricing).
- Quote parts for repairs and large jobs; support sales and service teams with technical and parts expertise.
- Manage warranty claims and core returns; track credits and follow up with manufacturers.
- Monitor KPIs: inventory turns fill rate order accuracy turns gross margin and parts aging; produce regular reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety environmental and company policies; maintain clean organized warehouse.
- Coordinate special projects: inventory resets system implementations parts rationalization and cost-saving initiatives.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or industry certification preferred.
- Experience: 3 years in parts or inventory management; supervisory experience preferred; experience in industry e.g. automotive heavy equipment HVAC desirable.
- Skills: Strong organizational analytical purchasing negotiation and customer-service skills. Proficient with inventory management systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Physical: Ability to lift parts and work in warehouse environment as needed.
- Certifications (optional): Certified Parts Specialist supply-chain or logistics certifications a plus.

Working Conditions
