The Center for Disabilities & Development is seeking a full-time Patient Care Technician for 1st shift. This position will be scheduled Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM. Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who work under direct supervision of a nurse to assist the members of the nursing team in provision of multiple types of patient care in in-patient and out-patient care areas. Their work requires familiarity with a wide variety of nursing procedures used in delivering patient care.
Communicates and interacts with patients visitors and other health care professionals in an effective manner and maintains positive cooperative relationships.
Performs computer functions within scope of role as defined by the individual unit.
Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
Practices standard precautions in infection control in accordance with institutional policy.
Assists staff during emergencies within the scope of practice.
Performs other projects and tasks as assigned.
Participates in unit staff meetings and in-services.
Complies with annual competency review guidelines.
Incorporates the principles of Service Leadership to ensure positive patient/customer relations.
Adheres to UIHC policies regarding personal conduct including follows established leadership remaining responsive to instruction and coaching from supervisors and meeting the standards of personal appearance attendance and punctuality.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
- Ability to read write and follow instructions.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working in a health care environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with hospital staff.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Customer service experience.
