Job Description:

Looking for a Full Stack Architect with experience working with business and technology teams to define complex multi-application solutions. The successful candidate will lead teams in defining solutions including working closely with business and technology leaders to inform and execute on the banks application visions.
The Full Stack Architect will be required to work closely with business and technology leaders to plan and prioritize long-term objectives including defining high level architectures that adhere to the strategic direction.
The Full Stack Architect will lead the definition of detailed architectures interfacing with team and partner architects to prepare well-defined end to end solutions.
The Architect will be required to understand and provide guidance on the technical aspects of the solution and will often work closely with the Technology team partners. The FSA will need to look at a problem from a number of angles to assess the most strategic and/or appropriate way of solving the problem.

The Architect will:
Take direction from Principal & Practice Area Architects supporting the platform.
Work closely with other enterprise architects business and technology delivery partners to define and contribute to both high-level (for estimation) and detailed solutions (for delivery).
Prepare and contribute to the authoring of platform architecture visions.
Prepare architecture blueprints / designs.
Prepare diagrams and other artefacts to support solution discussions and communicate decisions.
Perform options analyses and document Architecture Assessment of Options.
Ensure alignment to and promote advancement of the Architecture Vision for the domain.

Depth & Scope:

  • Seasoned individual contributor rolewith expert knowledge of specific enterprise and/or functional domain(s) and a demonstrated track record working with a broad range of architecture frameworks technology tools processes and procedures
  • Exceptional collaboration communication and client-facing skills
  • Big-picture thinker with ability to anticipate architectural gaps and identify emerging trends through both advanced business acumen and highly specialized technical knowledge of TD and its applications programming languages industry best practices Bank standards infrastructure and architectural design / solutions
  • Architect assigned to work autonomously on high profile complex and/or high-risk technology projects with significant impact to the organization

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate (Graduate degree preferred)
  • 10 years relevant experience developing a variety of platforms
  • Experience with Continuous Integration Continuous Delivery Pair programming and / or Test-Driven Development is an asset (i.e. ability to author Unit Integration and Functional Tests)
  • Demonstrated experience with leading technical tools integration in a complex environment

Be cable of working autonomously on high profile complex and/or high-risk technology projects with significant impact to the organization
Be a proactive thinker when it comes to providing recommendations on value-added architectural improvements and enhancements.
Have experience defining and communicating multi-application solution architectures within a broader system ecosystem.
Have experience working with both technical- and business-minded teams to identify problems and requirements in defining solutions and in translating problems/solutions across all stakeholders.
Have expert knowledge of architecture related to specific technologies tools processes procedures and broader business issues and relevant technologies. Familiarity with Java Angular Azure OIDC REST Kafka/Events relational and non-SQL databases (including MongoDB) Redis and data driven design.
Familiarity with Azure & GCP AI/ML services LLM Agent/Agentic architecture Azure AI Services Azure AI Foundry GCP Vertex AI GCP Agent Space RAG Azure AI Search
Have experience in defining and designing solutions that participate in microservice micro front-end and event-based architectures and experience working on customer-facing digital applications.

Customer Accountabilities:

  • Applies a multi-disciplined expertise with database application client tiers layering of software build test and deploy strategies in order to create the overall design of software (including applications infrastructure middleware) and guide how the sub-components are developed by different teams
  • Elevates focus on applications and data as differentiators for the customer experience anchored in sound foundational elements of Infrastructure and Platforms
  • Advises on suitability of technology stacks to defineprinciples / key constraints for solution components; ralliesthe team around these principles to determine security / scalability approach and impact assessments for future design
  • Drives continual upgradingand grounds the team in assessing practical program concerns to innovate on both server-side and user-side features as technologies / platforms expand to reduce technology debt and build resilient solutions
  • Leads code reviews to create and test prototypes to assess viability of approaches. Uses configuration management and integration / build automation tools to lead and deploy code gather proof points for developers to build on navigate around complexities based on a clear understanding of the vision across the technology stacks and provide critical suggestions for fixes and improvements on the integration
  • Monitors and reports on progress and collaborates broadly with other practitioners including designers engineers and other applicable business stakeholders to ensure the necessary features for the products and applications are developed within assigned portfolio
  • Designs tests that will be implemented to keep the software functional; supports issue analysis and fix activities during test phases as well as production issue resolution
  • Collaborates with Practices actively driving capability creation; mentoring and training junior colleagues to be adaptive staying on top of expanding technologies and engineering trends and creating highly visual and functional solutions

Shareholder Accountabilities:

  • Sets service-level objectives (SLO) and exercise key decision rights of the FSA role
  • Focuses on reliability scalability and the development of the architectural infrastructure; including highly complex and scalable systems
  • Develops observability standards to ensure that production systems operate under known conditions and transparently provides these measurements to anticipate when errors or failures can arise.
  • Leads interaction with governance and control groups (e.g. regulatory / operational risk compliance and audit) to provide subject matter expertise and consult on risk issues related to architectural technology and tools
  • Leads or contributes to cross-functional / enterprise initiatives as an organizational or subject matter expert helping to identify risk / provide guidance for significant and complex situations
  • Monitors and reports on the status of the products / projects and applications within assigned product ensuring projects are compliant with technology domain architecture and designs / operates processes to provide ongoing review of in-progress activity against technology architecture and development standards
  • Foresees architectural issues / gaps and identifies emerging industry trends to recommend value-added architectural improvements that will alleviate technology debt and build resilient solutions
  • Maps processes and sub-processes that bridge the gap between business problems and technology solutions
  • Keeps track of changes made to code through control systems
  • Collaborates within practices platforms or journeys comprised of diverse and complementary skills; inspiring the team to embrace changes and continually advance collective knowledge of technical tools / trends
  • Protects the interests of the organization identify and manage risks and escalate non-standard high risk activities as necessary
  • Keeps abreast of emerging issues trends and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
  • Maintains a culture of risk management and control supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
