Contract Type: 1-year fixed term contract with possibility of extension

Location: Bucharest Romania

Closing Date: 9th November 2025

Salary: 6500 RON gross per month

You must have the legal right to work in Romania at the time of application.
There is no relocation or sponsorship support.

Role Purpose:

  • The post-holder will work directly under the Customer Services Manager and closely with the Head of Teaching Centre and the Academic Manager.
  • The Teaching Centre in Bucharest continues to expand rapidly and is now one of the largest centers in the EU. We enjoy a strong reputation in Romania as the leading provider of English language courses. Current performance of Exams and Teaching across the country is strong and there are ambitious growth targets for both strands.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

Sales and Customer management

  • Carry out interviews as part of the placement testing process and identify the development needs of all potential students of English courses for adults and young learners for the British Council in Bucharest
  • Counsel potential students based on their current level of English in order to agree and choose an English course which best fits their needs
  • Act as a single point of contact for all prospect customers guide them through the journey from first enquiry to final sale.
  • Meet all sales targets and KPIs as set out by the organisation.
  • Maximise opportunities for cross selling and be accountable for monthly targets while keeping careful track of the sales progress made at any one time
  • Follow up with customers who have already had their consultations and/or placement tests but havent registered with the purpose of re-establishing their needs and offering them solutions.
  • Acquire and maintain an excellent level of pricing discounting and offer/product knowledge at all times. A proactive approach including input and feedback from frontline customer experience is expected. Observation of classes and hands on experience of the products is required.
  • Maintain and update all databases and reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Constantly liaise with and offer feedback to the Customer Services Manager and the Academic Manager for Adult courses in terms of customers evaluation and materials based on direct information gathered during the counselling sessions
  • Register students for English courses and proactively cross-sell all relevant British Council services which customers may be interested in.

  • Ensure confidentiality and safety of documents and transactions

Other duties

  • Comply with the Single Point of Contact strategy
  • Any other duties in support of the teams operation as designated by Line Manager
  • Attend regular professional development training and skills programmes as required
  • Full engagement with the performance management programme
  • Participate in projects as agreed with the Line Manager
  • To be part of the team that is directly involved with promoting corporate marketing activities and be part of the team who actively participate in social events as well as having an input to the commercial content on the BC web site with the lead from the marketing team

Role specific knowledge and experience:

Minimum / Essential Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in any discipline
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint)
  • Exhibits a positive enthusiastic and passionate attitude
  • Demonstrates attentiveness through active listening and effective questioning
  • Able to manage time efficiently and perform well under pressure
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong team player
  • Shows initiative and leadership qualities

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience in sales and customer service
  • Prior experience in a teaching environment

Language Requirement:

  • C2 English proficiency (written and spoken)
  • C2 Romanian proficiency (written and spoken)
