Mechanic Technician Job Description

Job Title: Mechanic Technician

Reports To: Transportation Director

Evaluated By: Assistant Superintendent and/or Transportation Director

Qualification Requirements:

Mechanic Technician 1 Must have extensive knowledge in all phases of vehicle maintenance master mechanic and skills relating to all phases of vehicle maintenance. Formal schooling such as ASE certification prior experience and previous on-the-job training required. Should have a valid Class B CDL or be willing to acquire the CDL. Must be able to pass a drug test and background check. Must be able to perform other duties as assigned by the district. Must be able to perform other duties as assigned by the district. Base pay rate $18.67/hr.

Mechanic Technician 2 Must have had training and be able to handle most major and minor problems relating to vehicle maintenance without supervision. Formal schooling such as ASE prior work experience or previous on-the-job training preferred but not required. Should have a valid Class B CDL or be willing to acquire the CDL. Must be able to pass a drug test and background check. Must be able to perform other duties as assigned by the district. Must be able to perform other duties as assigned by the district. Base pay rate $15.46/hr.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand walk and sit frequently or for prolonged periods of time. Additional physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling stooping/crouching reaching/handling talking/hearing conversations and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision. May be required to lift up to 75 lbs. and work in an environment with exposure to petroleum fumes and work occasionally outside. May be required to work flexible hours including early morning and late evenings.
