Mental Health Technician

Full Time Non-Exempt (Monday to Friday 8:30-2:30pm)

Location: Cherry Hill NJ

Compensation Range: $21-22.00/per hour

Reports to: Transitions Program Supervisor

Position Summary:

Mental Health Technicians play a vital role as integral members of the students care team offering direct support to those facing mental illness emotional distress or behavioral challenges hindering academic success. Services are provided within the school setting.

Our Transitions program is for students in grades 9-12 who are unable to attend public school due to anxiety depression or other mental challenges. We offer a small group center-based home instruction program that includes individual and group counseling alongside an academic curriculum designed to transition students back to school successfully. Our team is passionate diverse and dynamic known for our collaborative spirit and unwavering commitment to high-quality evidence-based practice.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate students mental status behavior and mood.
  • Execute treatment plans directed by mental health professionals.
  • Offer emotional support and guidance assisting students in applying coping mechanisms and managing symptoms.
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress and observations in clinical documentation
  • Uphold a safe and therapeutic environment de-escalate crisis situations and prioritize overall safety.
  • Effectively collaborate with team members including administrators educators clinical social workers and counselors.
  • Engage in ongoing training and professional development to stay abreast of best practices in mental health care.

Team:

This role will be part of theclinical team reporting to the Transitions Program Supervisor.

Basic Qualifications:

  • HSD Diploma required
  • Experience working with mental health population or mood disorders
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills fostering rapport and trust with students.
  • Excellent observational and assessment skills.
  • Compassionate and empathetic nature driven by a genuine desire to help others.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform some lifting and bending.
