The Director of Catering & Event Sales is responsible for overseeing all aspects of catering and event sales operations from business development and client relations to event planning and execution. This role will lead the team in achieving revenue goals across corporate meetings while maintaining the highest standards of service and guest satisfaction.
Lead and motivate the catering and event sales team to meet and exceed sales goals.
Foster a collaborative high-energy work environment focused on service excellence and innovation.
Conduct regular performance reviews training sessions and coaching to develop team talent.
Proactively solicit new catering and event business through networking client outreach and community involvement.
Maintain and grow existing client relationships to ensure repeat and referral business.
Develop and execute annual sales plans and marketing strategies to achieve revenue targets.
Represent the hotel at tradeshows industry events and client meetings.
Oversee the coordination of all catering and event details from proposal to completion ensuring seamless execution.
Partner with culinary banquet and operations teams to deliver events that exceed client expectations.
Prepare detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) proposals and contracts in alignment with brand standards.
Conduct pre- and post-event meetings to review logistics service quality and client satisfaction.
Develop and monitor catering and event sales budgets forecasts and performance reports.
Collaborate with Revenue Management to ensure optimal pricing and profitability.
Drive upselling initiatives for food and beverage enhancements décor and specialty services.
Track and analyze business trends to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
Serve as the primary point of contact for high-profile clients and major events.
Resolve client concerns with professionalism and urgency.
Maintain strong interdepartmental communication to ensure alignment across all event touchpoints.
Bachelors degree in Hospitality Business or a related field preferred.
Minimum 57 years of catering and event sales experience with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals in a luxury or full-service hotel.
Strong organizational leadership and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Marriott systems (CI/TY SalesForce or OneSource) preferred.
Excellent communication presentation and negotiation skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to work evenings weekends and holidays as required by business demands.
Valid drivers license required.
