Description of role:

The Professional Membership Director will lead the strategic development and operational delivery of TWIs professional membership services.

This includes driving member engagement growing the global membership base enhancing professional development pathways and upholding the standards of professional recognition in line with regulatory and institutional requirements.

In addition the role holder should develop and execute strategies to attract the next generation into the industry / Membership.

Key Accountabilities Include:

  • Strategic Leadership
    Develop and implement a forward-looking membership strategy aligned with TWIs mission and values.
  • Member Engagement & Growth
    Expand and diversify the professional membership base through targeted outreach partnership development and value-driven member offerings.
  • Professional Development
    Oversee the provision and enhancement of continuing professional development (CPD) programs accreditation processes and professional registration (e.g. EngTech IEng CEng).
  • Governance & Standards
    Ensure compliance with Engineering Council UK standards and internal quality frameworks. Work closely with relevant committees and boards to maintain professional standards.
  • Team & Budget Management
    Lead and support a multidisciplinary team managing resources effectively to deliver high-impact membership services and events.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    Represent TWI and The Welding Institute at national and international forums developing partnerships with academia industry other professional bodies and the next generation.
