Job Description Summary:

Under general supervision the Trauma Registry Analyst supports the Trauma Program by maintaining a high-quality trauma registry and conducting administrative and analytical studies that inform clinical operations quality improvement and regulatory reporting. The role abstracts codes validates analyzes and reports trauma data in alignment with the National Trauma Data Standard (NTDS) TQIP/NTDB and hospital policy. The analyst collaborates closely with the Trauma Medical Director Trauma Program Manager trauma registrars and cross-functional partners across MarinHealth.

Job Requirements Prerequisites and Essential Functions:

Registry Operations:

  • Abstract code and enter cases; maintain accurate up-to-date records; manage case completeness and timeliness; perform routine/data-quality validations and reconciliation.

Coding & Standards:

  • Apply ICD-10-CM/PCS AIS 2005/2008 or 2015 and compute scores (e.g. ISS/NISS) per NTDS/TQIP standards.

Analytics & Reporting:

  • Build and deliver statistical and management reports (written visual and oral); identify trends outliers and opportunities; support QI/PI reviews ACS verification preparation and regulatory submissions.

Process Improvement:

  • Evaluate program practices and procedures; recommend organizational operational policy and procedural improvements to enhance service delivery and program objectives.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Partner with clinical and administrative leaders (ED ICU OR Case Management Finance Quality) to answer operational questions; act as a departmental resource on registry methods and metrics.

Project & Contract Support:

  • Plan and execute studies (needs analysis feasibility cost); assist with vendor/contract monitoring for compliance with deliverables.

Tools & Data Systems:

  • Use EHR registry software and analytics tools (e.g. Excel/Power BI/SQL or equivalent) to collect analyze and present data; maintain documentation and data dictionaries.

Training & Guidance:

  • Provide technical assistance to trauma registrars; may train and guide junior staff; promote data literacy and adherence to standards.

Compliance & Privacy:

  • Safeguard PHI follow HIPAA and hospital policies; support audits and readiness activities.

Typical Tasks (illustrative)

  • Conduct systems/analytical studies on workflows budgets staffing and management functions.
  • Perform cost/feasibility analyses; collect tabulate and analyze data to determine trends and underlying factors.
  • Prepare reports detailing methodology findings and recommendations; present in written graphic and verbal formats.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental projects and recommend study parameters methods and sources.
  • Develop quantitative measures for management control and evaluation.
  • Demonstrate accurate work under deadlines with minimal supervision; communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Compensation:

The posted pay range complies with applicable law and reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Individual pay is set by skills experience qualifications and internal/market equity consistent with MarinHealths compensation philosophy. Positions covered by collective bargaining agreements are governed by those agreements.
