Your new team

This position sits in our Chivas Brothers business. At Chivas Brothers our 1600-strong team across 27 sites is committed to upholding the heritage of Scotch and ensuring its sustainable future as well as opening it up to new audiences across the globe.

The scope of Operations stretches from Procurement through conversion (distillation and maturation) and manufacturing (or bottling) to all the downstream Supply Chain activities until the final product is addition Operations play a very active role in Innovation Talent Development and Operational Risk Management.

Our Production function encompasses everything from the distilling of our products through to Filling Maturation Warehousing and the final Draining & Vatting.

The Project Engineering team are responsible for designing and implementing capital investment projects that support business objectives for production growth carbon reduction safety efficiency and compliance. Individual project values will vary between 50000 and with multiple projects running concurrently.

Your unique contribution

The Control Engineer will provide an in-house service for innovative solutions to process re-engineering and continuous improvement projects with specific reference to Control & Instrumentation.

You will have four main areas of responsibility:

  • Project Management to manage and control capital projects including investigation solution design development estimation implementation installation and commissioning throughout Chivas Brothers Operations sites in line with customer requirements and overall business goals.
  • Installation to specify design purchase and supervise the installation of instrumentation and control systems including computer networks programmable logic controllers (PLC) electrical electronic pneumatic and electro-mechanical equipment. You will also assist in implementing Instrumentation and Control Engineering Standards.
  • Technical Expertise to give technical assistance to production and engineering departments in all areas of computing instrumentation control and electronic systems.
  • Continuous Improvement to assist in development and implementation of standards and systems to promote continuous improvement in the CAPEX execution process and ensure legislative compliance in all areas of expertise.

Who youll be working with

Internally youll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams during projects. You will also collaborate with the wider Engineering team as well as other Production teams.

Externally you will collaborate with contractors consultants and suppliers to ensure delivery of services to the highest standard.

Your blend of talent

This position could be right for you if you:

  • Are educated to degree level in electrical and electronic engineering (or equivalent) and have relevant industrial experience.
  • Have an electrical background with a sound understanding of PLC systems including I/O programming and graphics.
  • Have knowledge of instrumentation to carry out setting up fault finding and calibration with the ability to operate a PC to access PLCs and diagnose and fix faults.
  • Are aware of industrial communication protocols and Cyber Security and can demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to Health & Safety legislation.
  • Possess a full UK driving licence.
