The Intern Software Engineer Infrastructure as Code works within the Software Delivery Platform team. This team is part of the Infrastructure group in the DAIV (Data AI and Visualization) organization within R&D.

The Software Delivery Platform (SDP) enables the delivery of on-premise Software Based Workflow Applications Data Management and the integration of AI functionality for our microscope products. The platform enables processing connecting multiple tools and streamlining the workflows. The development of fleet management functionality for such platform deployments will be part of your assignment.

You will join a team of approximately 10 engineers working closely with other software teams across the different development sites in Europe and USA. This role involves working with brand-new tools to improve and streamline the software delivery process. The work this team does has a huge impact on our products and workflows at our customers sites. You will have a lot of freedom in this role to investigate how you can improve existing infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities

  • Explore fleet management needs with multiple collaborator teams.
  • Design and implement features that offer fleet management functionality allowing the monitoring and management of multiple SDP deployments in our R&D environment.
  • Test the developed tooling in an environment comprising multiple SDP systems.
  • Document and present the developed work to various partners.

Job Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience with monitoring and reporting tools (e.g. Prometheus Kibana Grafana Elasticsearch)
  • Hands-on programming experience. The language to be used for this project can be chosen (e.g. Python C Rust Go Javascript)
  • English communication skills written and spoken
  • Desire to work in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment
  • Eager and driven to learn and contribute to innovative research projects
