Completes and submits state mandated reports and surveys as required by the Massachusetts Department of Public HealthPromotes positive safety practices within and outside of the school buildingAssesses children for a wide range of physical and behavioral illnesses and develops programs to prevent the spread of disease and promote wellnessProvides medically prescribed interventions including medication administration and treatments. Provides first aid/emergency care to students and staffCollaborates with students parents members of the school-based team and community health care providers and agencies to optimize student healthcare and learningMaintains comprehensive and confidential health records for students that are compliant with federal state and local regulations. Must remain proficient in current technology for health record database used throughout the systemEnsures timely documentation of all encounters with studentsUsing the nursing process collaborates with family and student to develop and implement an individualized health care plan when appropriatePreferred Qualifications:Possess a school nurse educators license from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (preferred but not required)Bachelors or Masters Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university (required)Hold a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Massachusetts (M.G.L. c.71 s.53) (required)Current CPR certification/AED training from a recognized provider (such as the American Red Cross or American Heart Association) (required)Pediatric background (preferred)Consistent demonstration of the values of Shrewsbury Public Schools (required)A commitment to the education and care of all students (required)Application Process:Interested candidates should submit a cover letter resume official or unofficial copies of undergraduate/graduate transcripts license # or unofficial copy of license (nursing and school nurse if applicable) copy of CPR certification/ AED training certification and three current professional letters of reference including one from a direct supervisor or apply via Shrewsbury Public Schools is an affirmative action employer ensuring that its programs and facilities are accessible to the public.
