A well-established Canadian law firm with a strong reputation in litigation construction and infrastructure insurance commercial matters real estate and business law is seeking an experienced Legal Administrative Assistant to join its busy Litigation team. This firm is known for providing innovative personal and cost-effective service to long-standing clients and offers a collaborative and professional work environment.
Position Overview
The Legal Administrative Assistant will support a fast-paced litigation practice working closely with a team of lawyers and paralegals. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of legal and administrative duties and must be highly organized detail-oriented and skilled at managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and prepare correspondence legal documents and court filings
- Edit format and proofread complex documents including pleadings reports and spreadsheets
- Manage file opening and closing procedures maintain electronic and paper filing systems
- Maintain calendars schedule meetings and hearings and manage bring-forward systems
- Coordinate discoveries trial dates and related logistics
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail and manage large volumes of documentation
- Monitor critical deadlines and ensure limitation dates are tracked and met
- Prepare time entries and assist with billing processes
- Communicate professionally with internal team members clients and external parties and
- Perform other administrative duties as required to support the litigation team
Qualifications
- 35 years of experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant preferably in litigation
- Completion of a Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate or equivalent training
- Strong knowledge of litigation procedures and court processes
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office legal case management systems and time-tracking software
- Excellent document and database management skills and
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
