RN- Trauma Step-Down/PCU (Rotating Shift) - Location: Bradenton FL 34201

Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Trauma Step Down / PCU unit provides high acuity nursing care to patients who are stepping down from the ICU or require advanced monitoring beyond a standard medical surgical unit. The RN collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to assess plan implement and evaluate patient care ensuring safety quality and positive outcomes in a fast paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive assessments of patients conditions including vital signs neurological status cardiac rhythm and other critical monitoring.
- Administer medications treatments and therapies safely and accurately; monitor for responses and adverse events.
- Recognize changes in patient status promptly and initiate appropriate interventions escalation or consultation.
- Collaborate with physicians advanced practice providers allied health professionals and other unit staff to coordinate care and discharge planning.
- Educate patients and families about disease processes medications recovery expectations and follow up care.
- Uphold hospital and unit standards for patient safety infection control falls prevention documentation hand offs (SBAR) and performance improvement initiatives.
- Maintain physical endurance: frequent standing bending reaching squatting kneeling moving/lifting patients and equipment (up to 50 lbs) as needed.
Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida.
- 1 year of acute care experience required.
- Must Have 1 year of RN experience preferability in the hospital setting but is open to LTACH HOME HEALTH REHAB.
- Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate (ASN/ADN) required.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required at hire (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
