Location: Los Angeles California (hybrid with 2 days working from home)
Position Overview:
The Counsel will independently manage labor and employment cases from inception to resolution provide employment law advice to clients and support a range of employment-related litigation and counseling matters.
What youll do:
- Handle single-plaintiff litigation matters including discrimination harassment retaliation wage-and-hour and reasonable accommodation claims.
- Manage and advise on PAGA (Private Attorneys General Act) cases.
- Participate in class action litigation as needed.
- Draft review and respond to initial pleadings and discovery requests.
- Prepare argue and respond to motions including dispositive and discovery motions.
- Take and defend depositions including those of plaintiffs and corporate witnesses.
- Provide employment law counseling on federal and state regulations policies and best practices.
- Manage cases independently from start to finish with minimal supervision.
- Maintain and develop client relationships; a smaller portable book of business is advantageous but not required.
Requirements
What youll bring:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in the relevant state bar.
- 9-12 years of experience in employment law with substantial litigation and counseling exposure.
- Strong research writing and analytical skills with an excellent academic record.
- Proven ability to handle complex cases independently.
Work environment & physical requirements:
- Standard office setting using typical office equipment such as computers phones printers and copiers.
- Sedentary work primarily involving sitting most of the time; occasional walking and standing required.
- Ability to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds.
- Close visual acuity required for reviewing documents preparing analyses and working extensively with computers.
