JOB TITLE:Coordinator-Multilingual Programs Compliance

REPORTS TO:Director Multilingual Programs

WAGE: Exempt

Pay Grade: AI 3

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Compliance Coordinator for Multilingual Programs is responsible for ensuring the district maintains compliance with the statutory requirements of federal and state law and the state accountability systems including PBMAS.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Masters degree in content and/or related field from an accredited college or university
  • At least three years counseling experience in the field of Bilingual/ ESL

Preferred:

  • Three years experience as a classroom teacher
  • Valid Texas teacher certification including Bilingual or ESL endorsement
  • Administrative experience at a campus and/or district level
  • Participation in an LPAC for a minimum of three years

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Understanding of Chapter 89 and its implementation in regards to language programs.
  • Ability to evaluate a language instructional program.
  • Ability to interpret policies procedures and data.
  • Excellent organization communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to supervise plan and present professional development.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Establish and maintain a system for reviewing LEP folders and other essential ELL documentation to determine level of compliance with state and district policies and procedures.
  • Prepare monthly compliance reports for all schools.
  • Oversee Accommodation Exhibit process to assure ELL students receive required linguistic accommodations.
  • Establish a system and a schedule to monitor the campus Language Proficiency Assessment Committees (LPAC).
  • Conduct monthly training sessions for staff in regards to compliance issues.
  • Organize LPAC training for administrators and ELL campus coordinators.
  • Assist in the completion of all state reports required by the Texas Education Agency.
  • Work with our PEIMS department in ensuring all the documentation is uploaded for the October count.
  • Remain current on best practices in the field of implementation of services for English language learners.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Academic Services team in the area of curriculum and instructional strategies.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: physical mobility standing prolonged sitting some lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling. This position will also require both traveling within the district and statewide. Mental demands: ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; ability to interpret a variety of data; ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory of instructional programs; ability to be effective in both oral and written communication; ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
