Your role
CBC/Radio-Canada is looking for two Directors Regulatory Affairs positions: one for CBC English Services and one for Radio-Canada French Services. Reporting to the Executive Director Corporate and Regulatory Affairs the ideal candidates will develop and lead a wide range of complex regulatory projects to advance the Corporations interests before the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) and various government bodies.
The successful candidates will lead the organizations participation in major CRTC hearings regarding policy and regulatory this role you will develop coordinate and draft policy and regulatory submissions on a variety of issues before the CRTC Heritage Canada and Industry Canadas broadcast directorates and ensure compliance with CRTC regulatory requirements.
The successful candidates will have a detailed knowledge and understanding of the broadcasting telecommunications and communications sectors in Canada. You will advise senior management on major policy issues facing CBC/Radio-Canadas services and provide them with key regulatory will also initiate effective liaison and develop and sustain effective relationships with senior regulatory staff at CRTC Canadian Heritage Innovation Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) and private sector broadcasters.
Ideal locations for these roles are Toronto and Montreal but other locations where CBC/Radio-Canada has a station can be considered.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
Background in social sciences or law with a minimum requirement of a bachelors degree in one of these areas.
Progressive related policy work experience preferably in a regulated industry sector.
Extensive knowledge of the broadcasting and telecommunications sectors in Canada the issues that confront it and its principal participants.
Extensive knowledge of the regulations governing communications industries in Canada.
Strong research writing speaking and policy analysis skills.
Extensive experience working with and making representations before senior management in a public or private sector organization.
Strong ability to communicate effectively with senior management through timely analysis/briefing notes/reports (oral or written).
Strong interpersonal skills and team player easily able to work with members of the department and liaise with employees across the Corporation who will be part of project teams.
Strong ability to communicate effectively to advance the CBCs and Radio-Canadas positions effectively.
Self-starter able to handle multiple conflicting priorities and respond to them effectively and efficiently often in short periods of time;
Sound judgement tact and diplomacy.
Ability to work independently while taking initiative on all areas of responsibility.
Travel is required.
