Job Summary
SUMMARY:
The Histotechnician prepares thin sections of human tissue preliminary to microscopic examination interpretation and diagnosis by the Pathologist. The Histotechnician works with delicate tissue samples automated equipment chemicals and glass slides. The Certified Histotechnician has a basic understanding of techniques and theory of routine procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
HT (ASCP) certification required or eligible; must obtain HT (ASCP) certification within 1 year; two years experience in a histology Required: Associates degree.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability to move traverse position self remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; exposure to hazardous materials; visual acuity; ability to read and understand communication; move lift and position materials weighing up to 20 pounds; distinguish colors.
