Columbias Digital and Technology Team is hiring a Senior Systems Engineer to support our Canada Distribution Centrein London ON. Reporting to the Manager Digital and Technology this role is ideal for someone with strong technical and hardwareexpertisewho enjoys working hands-on withnumerousITand infrastructurecomponents.
Whetheryourean internal team member looking to grow your impact or an external candidate seeking a dynamic environment this position offers the opportunity to lead and innovate in a hardware-intensive setting.
This is an onsite position.
HOWYOULLMAKE A DIFFERENCE
- HardwareSystems Management:Deploy SupportandmaintainWindowsenterpriseenvironment printers(label and paper)wearable computers(Zebra) scales dimensioning and weighing systemsconveyor systemsRF scannersand various softwaresuites(O365 WMS Crystal Reports Azure).
- InfrastructureDesign & Testing:Collaborate design andvalidatechanges tohardware & softwareinfrastructure including Warehouse Control SystemsManhattan WMS reporting andworkstation optimization.
- Vendor& Budget Oversight:Build relationships with hardware vendors influence product roadmapsmanage annual hardwarepurchasing andmaintainlocal asset database tools.
- ProjectLeadership:Lead medium to large-scale hardware installations and upgrades including planningpurchasing and execution.
- AgileCollaboration:Activelyparticipatein Agile ceremonies and contribute to backlog refinementkanbanplanning and delivery estimation.
- Peak-season Shift Coverage:During the summer peak shipping season standard hours change to accommodate multiple shifts (days afternoons and weekends)to support the an expectation to be available for phone support if issues arise.
YOU ARE
- Youreconfident in navigatingday to day Distribution Centreoperations use cases able to investigate system records andidentifyissues quickly and accurately.
- You solve complex problems creatively evaluating multiple options and developing effective solutions independently/collaboratively and can explain complex technical terms in which non-technical staff can understand and interpret.
- Yourecomfortable working with minimal directionor within multi-channel cross functional teamsanalyzing diverse technical issues and knowing when to escalatehighly complexchallenges.
- You bring a strategic mindset to hardware systems and infrastructureanticipatingsystem behavior and proactively preventing issues.
YOU HAVE
- Education:Post-secondary degreein Information Technology Computer Science or Engineering applicable certificationsare a benefit(e.g. ITILCompTiaA Network ) or equivalent experience.
- Technical Expertise:5years of experience in hardware systemsor IT infrastructure with deep knowledge ofDistribution Centrehardwareand softwareenvironments.
- Problem Solving:Ability toresolve complex issuesidentifyroot causes and develop creative solutions.
- Project Execution:Proven ability to lead installations navigate unfamiliar environments and manage cross-functional projects.
- Operational Insight:Familiarity withDistributionCenter operations and system behavior prediction based on physical environments.
