Core Responsibilities

What will you be doing your role

  • Provide therapy services (including play therapy) to refugee children including elementary middle school and high school students.
  • Provide therapy to clients who have experienced trauma.
  • Set appointments with parents and schools and communicate with them regarding scheduling.
  • Assist clients in developing treatment plans that help improve clients level of cognitive functioning and attain elevated quality of life.
  • Develop update and review treatment plans with clients.
  • Prepare progress notes session reports and document contact with clients.
  • Develop individual client goals and measure level of goal attainment for evaluation purposes.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork to ensure quality service and compliance with funding requirements.
  • Identify client specific needs and respond to crisis as needed to meet immediate mental health needs.
  • Utilize professional interpreters in therapy sessions as needed.
  • Delivers services and support that reflect the unique cultural values of each client.
  • Understand what refugees have been through as well as their various cultural backgrounds and work to meet their unique needs in therapy sessions.
  • Prepare and submit all required reports.
  • Assess and respond to crisis calls as needed.
  • Maintain licensure and adhere to ethical guidelines established by the licensing board.
  • You will operate independently as needed and exercise independent judgment in completing assignments.
  • Travel to and from off-site therapy locations as needed.

Are you the next Child/Adolescent Clinical Counselor

  • Masters in Counseling Psychology or Social Work required
  • Licensed in the State of Texas required
  • Experience in counseling clients with trauma preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English required
  • Bilingual in current refugee language preferred
  • Knowledge and ability to implement a number of treatment modalities in working with a broad range of clients.
  • Knowledge of theories relating to working with children and families including systems theory.
  • Transportation to and from off-site therapy locations

  • Full-time salaried position. Pay is determined by relevant experience work history education and internal equities.
