What youll do at Elekta

The International transport of radioactive materials demands meticulous planning especially when the destination involves high-risk environments such as politically unstable regions areas with elevated terrorism threats or zones prone to natural disasters. This assignment aims to develop a structured and objective methodology for assessing risks and advising on appropriate security measures prior to transport.

Objective of the Assignment:

The student will design a practical and objective approach to collecting analyzing and assessing safety risks in high-risk countries enabling the formulation of sound and effective security advice.

Key Learning Objectives:

• Conduct a systematic risk analysis for international transport scenarios.

• Gather and critically evaluate information from diverse sources considering reliability and bias.

• Develop professional communication skills for engaging with external stakeholders.

• Create a practical and applicable checklist for pre-transport security measures.

• Reflect on personal development and decision-making within a complex safety context.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Inventory and Analysis: Identify high-risk countries and assess relevant threats (e.g. political instability terrorism natural disasters).

• Source Evaluation: Analyze information sources and build a network of reliable contacts.

• Methodology Development: Create a structured method for objective information gathering and risk assessment.

• Checklist Creation: Draft a comprehensive pre-transport security checklist tailored to radioactive material logistics.

• Advisory Report: Write a detailed advisory report including recommendations risk mitigation strategies and a reflection on media bias and information reliability.

What You Bring

• Education: HBO Bachelors degree in Integrale Veiligheid or currently enrolled in such a program.

• Enthusiasm: A proactive and motivated attitude toward learning and contributing to safety and security challenges.

• Affinity: Demonstrated interest in or affinity with medical equipment and/or radioactive materials.

• Skills:

  • Analytical thinking and structured problem-solving.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (Dutch and English).

  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Basic understanding of international security and risk management principles.
