Senior Buyer Kirkbymoorside
FET is a world leader for the supply of Work Class ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles) Observation Class ROVs Trenchers and Submarine Rescue Systems providing innovative solutions for challenging deep water intervention operations. Design and manufacture of these systems is based at the facility at Kirkbymoorside North Yorkshire which is part of a worldwide company with headquarters in Houston USA. Purpose: To purchase at the best possible price and quality any goods or services to the current standard or
advised specification as required by the company to the timescale dictated by the needs of the company.
Key Responsibilities: (Key Tasks)
Perform the full purchasing cycle from requisition through order placement to delivery expediting and supplier issue resolution.
Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships that drive continuous improvement in quality cost delivery and safety.
Conduct market benchmarking and analysis negotiating terms to optimise competitiveness and cash flow.
Ensure timely purchase order placement in line with planned demand for Designated Suppliers.
Manage Designated Suppliers cost delivery and quality.
Ensure timely receipt of items ordered from Designated Suppliers.
Obtain quotations ad-hoc as requested from internal customers record and return.
Communicate effectively at any level within the business as circumstances dictate.
Resolve any query invoices to aid the cash-flow of the business within the month of issue.
Perform basic clerical duties within the department.
Provide ad-hoc reports as requested by the department manager.
Maintain good housekeeping at all times.
Carry out job related tasks safely constantly operating to good working practices.
All filing relevant to Designated Suppliers.
Education / Qualifications (essential):
Mathematics English and IT skills
Good computer skills competent with Microsoft packages
Technical Competencies (essential):
Min 5 years purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment
MRP experience preferred but not essential
Proficient with Microsoft applications Excel and word
Understand technical drawings
Key Skills (essential):
Accurate and thorough with the ability to work as part of a team
Negotiating skills
Computer literate specifically with excel spreadsheets
Must be flexible and have the ability to adapt to changing job requirements
Ability to work on occasion to tight deadlines and under pressure
Numerate detail oriented and articulate
Experience (essential):
Min 5 Years operation within a manufacturing environment
Experience within an Engineering manufacturing environment
MRP Systems and their related tasks
QHSE Competencies:
Maintain behaviour in compliance with FET requirements
Maintain responsibility and accountability through personal commitment and behaviour
Report any unsafe or environmentally unsound acts and conditions to their immediate supervisor such that remedial action can be taken to manage the risk
