Maintenance and Operation Services
MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN First Shift - 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate (Preferably TEC or vocational school training with concentration in General Maintenance and Groundskeeping).
Possess a working knowledge of a variety of maintenance areas.
Prior experience in maintenance work.
Possess a valid SC drivers license and preferred CDL or be eligible for CDL endorsement.
Possess a certified applicator license or be eligible for certified applicator license.
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
JOB GOAL:
To help maintain the school physical plants in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of them may be made at all times.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase and maintains the inventory of district-owned tools equipment and supplies.
- Determines which repair jobs may be performed by maintenance technicians on staff and which must be performed by outside contracts and advises the Director of Operations accordingly.
- Keeps equipment properly lubricated and calibrated.
- Stocks necessary parts.
- Assists other maintenance technicians in the planning and execution of their assignments.
- Performs general maintenance repairs such as carpentry plumbing heating and air conditioning electricity painting floor maintenance etc. when needed.
- Moves and hauls furniture equipment and supplies.
- Makes periodic preventive maintenance inspection of all vehicles and emergency generators.
- Keeps assigned maintenance vehicle clean neat and organized.
- Performs maintenance and minor repairs on groundskeeping equipment such as mowers edgers field rakes and blowers
SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- General groundskeeping duties such operating equipment mowing trimming shrubs underground water leaks cleaning gutters fertilizing and applying chemicals to control weeds and pests.
- Able to operate and maintain equipment such as trackhoe tractor and dump truck.
- Able to operate and maintain various power equipment such as mowers edgers field rakes and blowers.
- Possess and utilize excellent team building skills.
- Accept delegated responsibilities willingly.
- Able to work under occasional stress.
- Able to lift seventy-five pounds.
- Able to operate assigned equipment for specific maintenance tasks.
- Be available during emergencies after normal work hours.
- Able to work alone for long periods of time.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve-month year 240 Days/8 Hour Day.
Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the boards policy of evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
