Overview
Pharmacy Technician Trainee
As-Needed
Functions as a Pharmacy Technician as defined by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners. Assists pharmacists in entering prescription orders preparing and distributing drug products and maintaining accurate medication records. All duties are performed under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.

Responsibilities
Fosters a positive collaborative work culture built on honesty integrity open communication and team morale.
Prioritizes team success over individual recognition and works toward shared departmental and organizational goals.
Demonstrates professionalism and service excellence contributing to improved patient care and customer satisfaction.
Prepares compounds and distributes medications accurately and safely in accordance with facility state and federal regulations.
Manages medication inventory storage and billing documentation; maintains an organized clean and secure department.
Communicates professionally when assisting others or directing calls and supports a respectful efficient workflow.
Ensures compliance with pharmacy regulations and safety standards promptly reporting errors or concerns and meeting technician-in-training requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Must be registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee prior to first day of work.
- Must maintain a current Pharmacy Technician Trainee registration and be in good standing with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy.
- Must obtain registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician prior to the expiration of the technician trainee registration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy.
Preferred:
- Experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy desirable
- Experience in a health care facility desirable
