POSITION SUMMARY:

The Technical Lead is a pivotal role responsible for driving the architecture design and delivery of innovative high-quality software solutions. This position blends technical depth with leadership and mentorship fostering collaboration across cross-functional teams to ensure excellence throughout the development lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Java Spring Boot microservices and API development along with a proven ability to guide engineering teams and uphold best practices. Experience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) or generative AI technologies into enterprise systemsenhancing automation functionality and user experienceis a major plus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Technical Leadership & Architecture

• Lead the design architecture and implementation of scalable high-performance systems and microservices.
• Define and enforce coding standards architecture principles and best practices across the engineering team.
• Review and approve system designs technical approaches and code contributions to ensure quality and maintainability.
• Serve as a technical advisor and mentor to software engineers fostering professional growth and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with product management and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions and project roadmaps.

Hands-On Development

• Design develop and maintain efficient reusable and reliable Java code using the Spring Boot framework.
• Build and maintain microservices that support business operations and external integrations.
• Develop and document RESTful APIs and integration interfaces for internal and external systems.
• Design and implement secure scalable databases ensuring data integrity and performance.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle from requirements analysis to deployment and monitoring.

AI & Emerging Technologies

• Identify opportunities to leverage LLMs and generative AI to improve system capabilities automate workflows and enhance the customer experience.
• Collaborate with data and platform teams to integrate AI/ML APIs (e.g. OpenAI Anthropic Azure OpenAI) into production systems.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies frameworks and tools to continuously improve engineering productivity and platform scalability.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Partner with QA DevOps and Data Engineering teams to ensure seamless CI/CD pipelines test automation and deployment reliability.
• Communicate progress risks and solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Participate in sprint planning backlog refinement and retrospectives to drive delivery efficiency and team alignment.

COMPETENCIES:

Knowledge:

• 8-10 years of experience in software engineering and backend development
• At least 3 years in a senior or lead engineering role
• Deep understanding of Java Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
• Strong grasp of API design database design and scalable architecture principles.
• Proficiency with relational databases (MySQL PostgreSQL) and ORM frameworks.
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles design patterns and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS Azure or GCP).
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker Kubernetes).
• Awareness of observability tools (Grafana Prometheus ELK stack).
• Understanding of AI/ML integrations LLMs and related APIs (e.g. OpenAI Anthropic Azure OpenAI).
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field preferred

Skills:

• Excellent communication and collaboration across departments.
• Proficient with version control systems (Git) and agile delivery practices.
• Experience developing secure maintainable and high-performance software solutions.
• Strong ability to plan document and execute complex technical projects.
• Skilled in integrating emerging technologies and driving innovation.

Abilities:

• Experience with guiding and influencing engineers while maintaining a hands-on technical role.
• Can translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Operate effectively in a growth-focused agile environment
• Effective in managing competing priorities and delivering high quality product with tight deadlines.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role does not include any direct management responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Location: Remote
• Conditions: Must have a dedicated private workspace to conduct business without distraction. Occasional travel to aircraft or client locations may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Regular use of standard office equipment such as computers phones and video conferencing tools.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally (for event or marketing materials).

TRAVEL:

Limited. Occasional travel for industry and company conferences meetings or operational oversight at other locations.

This is a salaried role with a base pay range of $140000$170000 based on experience and location. The position is not commission- or bonus-based and includes Magellan Jets full benefits package.
