Laboratory Technician II Jefferson St

The Department of Pathology is seeking a Laboratory Technician II to assist with the daily allocation of resources and coordination of activities to ensure a smooth operation. Performs a variety of laboratory tasks related to specimen receiving processing phlebotomy sample storage archiving data entry of patient information lab orders telephone inquiries and related problem resolution. Responsible for maintenance of laboratory equipment and supply distribution. Provides functional supervision of shift personnel. This position is located at the Jefferson St location and is 100% time Monday-Friday between the hours of 0730-1600 with a 30 minute meal break.

Duties to include:

Demonstrates functional supervision by the ability to direct the daily allocation of resources and coordination of activities.

Ensures quality service to clients through communications with external and internal laboratories and support staff.

Performs pre-analytical work as assigned.

Performs or directs routine preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and cleaning as assigned.

Assists with selection and training new laboratory employees.

Performs phlebotomy (may float to several locations).

Two years of related laboratory experience including one year as a Laboratory Technician I or equivalent level experience or

Certified Laboratory Assistant (CLA) certification or

Any combination of related post high school education and experience which totals two years.

Desirable Qualifications:

High volume public contact

Phlebotomy experience is highly desirable.
