Job Summary

We currently have a vacancy for a part-time Research Programme Coordinator to join our team. This position is dedicated to supporting a large five-year MBIE-funded project titled Next-generation ore: towards sustainable mining for regional prosperity and societal resilience which runs until September 30 2030. This role involves providing effective coordination and operational support across the project including assisting researchers subcontractors and students with project management research support services and operational pre- and post-award processes.

Alongside your team and Research Programme Manager you will:

  • Have strong interpersonal communication and engagement skills with the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships
  • Be proactive with the ability to use initiative and self-manage workloads
  • Demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail with strong written communication
  • Proactively organise and coordinate events with prior experience being a preference
  • Have experience with financial systems and managing project budgets
  • Have experience of working in a complex and diverse environment
  • Have experience in research project/programme administration
  • Enjoy working collaboratively and have the flexibility to adapt and work effectively in a variety of situations

This is a part-time (18.75 hours per week) fixed-term position

Remuneration: $63600 - $79300 pro rata dependent on experience

Ko te whare Pūtaiao The Faculty of Science at the University of Auckland is the leading science faculty in New Zealand and one of the largest in Australasia and undertakes world-class research across the physical biological and computational sciences.

The faculty is made up of 10 schools/departments and has a number of cross-disciplinary research themes to stimulate new thinking and collaboration facilitating a lift in the quality of our research and the ability to attract new research funding.

The 16 Research Programme Coordinators in the team play an important role in supporting science researchers to obtain this funding and subsequently support various post-award processes on research projects. Working alongside our 5 Research Programme Managers you will have valuable opportunities to learn new skills in a collaborative and supportive team environment.

Our ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification and have experience supporting academic or research staff. You will also have previous experience with project administration or coordination and navigating complex administrative systems.

  • Experience preparing and managing budgets
  • Adept at working collaboratively across various functions and within your team whilst having the autonomy to manage your own portfolio
  • Experience working with financial systems as well as grant applications and process management
  • Be flexible and adaptable in a busy environment balancing multiple demands
  • Passionate about supporting important research that contributes to society
