**If you do not have fiber communication design project experience please refer to our other open positions: we may list our openings in multiple locations you only need to apply to one as they are remote.

Note: This position can work fully remotely but new hires will be required to come to our main office located in Perrysburg OH for an initial 2 week in-person paid orientation and training period.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO AS A PROJECT ENGINEER AT SIGMA:

• Work in collaboration with the Project Manager to complete fiber communication design projects within scope budget and scheduling restraints.
• The Project Engineer will also work with the PM to develop implement and communicate an operational plan for completing the project.
• Monitor progress and performance against the project plan to ensure the established scope schedule and budget are met for all assigned projects across all functions.
• Display a forward-thinking and proactive approach by identifying problems or delays on a project and rectifying them before they eventuate.
• Prepare engineering designs and work specifications and provide technical support for the engineering process.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Provide project progress reports and metrics to functional management and other stakeholders in accordance with an approved communication plan.
• Coordinate with the Project Manager as required to interface with external customers throughout the project life cycle to help meet customer requirements.
• Develop a production schedule in accordance with project objectives and the estimated labor budget.
• Develop and implement work breakdown structures to ensure the established scope schedule and budget are met for all program/project proposals including project flow chart creation and change management.
• Contribute/consult with preparing program/project proposals change orders and/or corrective actions.
• Consults with SME(s) or acts as SME to ensure projects and/or programs meet existing and new regulatory requirements.
• Communicates and directs team project objectives parameters status and outcomes to relevant stakeholders.
• Works with Functional Manager and Supervisors on requisition of resources to meet project objectives; reviews allocation of resources and approves reprioritization as necessary.
• Coordinate with the Functional Managers/Supervisors to establish weekly Associate assignment schedules.
• Work as part of a team with supervisors providing feedback to assist in coaching and developing associates on their assigned projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Education High School Diploma or equivalent is required. A post-secondary degree in Engineering is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience 5 years of experience with fiber network engineering design operations and/or project management is required
• Advanced field drafting and/or design knowledge.
• Familiar with basic concepts practices and procedures used in Fiber Network Design projects
• Experience in project scheduling cost controls tracking and reporting methodologies.
• Knowledge of financial principles to quantify costs and benefits of projects and to track and maintain project budgets.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to facilitate team efforts provide guidance and direction to team members and communicate project objectives parameters status and outcomes to stakeholders.
• Able to pass a background check/drug test/driving record check
• Computer literate especially Microsoft Word Excel Outlook
• Willing to travel as needed including overnight travel
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a team establishing and sustaining relationships with colleagues and employees at all levels in the company
• Strong technical skills related to Fiber Distribution Fiber Network Design Fiber Network Expansion Joint-Use Permitting and project management techniques
• Basic financial skills to make sound business decisions
• Dependable transportation and valid drivers license and insurance
• Valid Drivers License
• Ability to work during core work hours of 8:00 AM 5:00 PM Eastern occasional weekend work may be required as duties demand
• Authorized to work in the United States

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to endure frequent lengthy periods of sedentary work and sit for prolonged periods of time.
• Must be able to utilize a computer keyboard computer monitor and telephone for prolonged periods of time.
• Must have the physical ability to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures transcribing notes and viewing a computer terminal; these activities require close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Must have the physical ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately often in a group setting.
• Must have the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound.
