Behavioral Health Nurse (Clinic Nurse)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioral Health Registered Nurse to provide high-quality mental health nursing care within a military healthcare environment. The RN will deliver evidence-based interventions support emotional and psychological well-being and promote overall readiness and resilience among military personnel and their families. This role combines clinical expertise with a mission-driven commitment to the unique needs of the military community.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral health nursing care to patients experiencing a range of mental health conditions including anxiety depression PTSD and adjustment disorders.
Collaborate with psychiatrists psychologists social workers and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Perform mental status examinations obtain behavioral health histories and accurately document all findings and interventions.
Administer medications monitor therapeutic responses and educate patients on medication adherence and side effects.
Support crisis intervention and stabilization efforts; recognize and respond appropriately to suicidal ideation aggression or acute distress.
Provide patient and family education to promote coping strategies stress management and recovery.
Maintain compliance with all Military Treatment Facility (MTF) policies protocols and standards of care.
Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences treatment team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
Supervise and mentor assigned healthcare staff in delivering safe patient-centered behavioral health care.
Contribute to initiatives that promote psychological resilience preventive mental health and overall force readiness.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from a program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience post-graduation with demonstrated knowledge of behavioral health or psychiatric nursing principles.
Licensure: Current full active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in any U.S. state or territory.
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in behavioral health psychiatric or military mental health settings.
Training or certification in crisis intervention trauma-informed care or suicide prevention.
Strong assessment communication and therapeutic engagement skills.
Ability to function effectively within a multidisciplinary and high-performance team environment.
