Compass Government Solutions is seeking an Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide services at the Intrepid Spirit Center of Excellence - Anomalous Health Incidents in Bethesda Maryland. An occupational therapists job is to help people with physical mental developmental or emotional disabilities perform daily activities such as dressing working or socializing by assessing their needs developing personalized treatment plans teaching adaptive techniques and recommending environmental modifications. Their goal is to improve patient independence health and overall quality of life by enabling them to participate in meaningful daily tasks. 

This opportunity is part of a proposal effort. We are currently accepting applications from experienced candidates to be considered if the contract is awarded.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday
Hours of Operation: 6 AM to 6 PM
Typical Clinical Hours: 7 AM to 4 PM
8 or 10-hour shifts for a 40-hour work week.
 

Job Duties:

 Demonstrates advanced knowledge of contemporary occupational therapy across multiple areas of practice and the demonstrated ability to apply this advanced knowledge to provide clinical guidance to Staff OTs. 

Conduct independent and specialized evaluation of the patient by using a variety of standardized and non-standardized tests to determine occupational therapy needs.

Evaluate procedures/methods including but are not limited to: the review of medical record subjective interview with patient and/or family/caregiver and/or care team; observation vital sign monitoring and functional evaluation of strength/range of motion/coordination/sensation activities of daily living instrumental activities of daily living cognition motor function/control functional mobility and safety.

Develop an effective and client centered treatment plan that is appropriate and indicated for the disabilities and conditions being treated.

Establish short and long-term goals that are objective measurable and within certain time frames.

Develop and carries out a full range of occupational therapy treatments using a variety of evidence-based treatment methods and techniques.

Provides age-specific care that is appropriate to the cognitive emotional cultural and chronological maturation needs of the patient. Demonstrates knowledge of changes associated with aging and principles of growth and development relevant to the adult and geriatric age groups; ability to assess and interpret data about the patients status; and ability to identify age-specific needs and provide the appropriate care based upon the age-related factors.

Develop and implement individualized client centered occupational therapy treatment programs for patients.

Complete training to obtain knowledge and maintain competency in the following systems: MHS Genesis Dragon dictation software and Microsoft Office programs.

Comply with regulatory MTF and Joint Commission quality inspection/ peer review/ utilization management requirements and applicable system applications.

Contractor employees shall prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established MTF standards to include but not limited to: timeliness accuracy content and signature. Contractor employees shall only use DoD approved abbreviations for documentation in the patient health records. (DoDI 6025.13 and DoDM 6055.05)

Document and close notes in MHS Genesis within three (3) business days of patient encounters.

Respond to beneficiary messages submitted and received in the MHS Genesis secure portal systems within one (1) business day. 


Qualifications :

Preferred:

Experience in MHS Genesis Dragon dictation software and Microsoft Office Programs.

Required:

Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Board Certification

Licensure/Registration:

  • Full current and unrestricted state license to practice occupational therapy in a state territory or Commonwealth of the US (i.e. Puerto Rico) or in the District of Columbia

Education:

  • Bachelors degree* in Occupational Therapy OR Masters degree/higher in Occupational Therapy

Experience:

Bachelors Degree*: Two (2) years of experience as an occupational therapist. OR two (2) full years of graduate education in a related field.

 

*The baccalaureate degree must be from an approved program prior to the AOTA January 1 2005 decision that ACOTE would only accredit master or doctoral degree programs in occupational therapy.
