Job Summary

Description
  1. Surgical Case Preparation: This will have been satisfactorily performed when
    1. Proper equipment instruments and supplies are provided for procedures and specialty areas by providing with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
    2. A well organized sterile setup/field is maintained at all times contributing to smooth operations at all times with no more than 2 documented surgeon complaints annually.
    3. Anticipates and responds effectively by performing assignments in a timely and efficient manner with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
    4. Proper sterile techniques are followed and maintains a sterile field at all times with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
    5. Assistance is provided to the circulating RN with procedure/patient preparation with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
    6. A working knowledge of autoclaves is followed and proper sterilization method for instruments selected at all times with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
    7. A proper procedure counting of instruments sponges and sharps is followed with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
    8. Instrumentation is accurately checked prior to procedure for proper functionality and maintained throughout procedure with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
  2. Quality & Patient Safety: This will have been satisfactorily performed when
    1. Appropriate procedure supplies and equipment for age specific needs is provided within specified guidelines with no more than 2 documented surgeon complaints annually.
    2. Patients are transported safely without delay with no more than 2 documented incidents annually.
    3. Assistance is provided in the positioning of patients with no more than 2 documented incidents annually.
    4. Recommended AORN guidelines are followed all the time with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
  3. Collaboration & Teamwork: This will have been satisfactorily performed when
    1. Surgeons needs are anticipated by following case progress with no more than 2 documented surgeon complaints annually.
    2. Active participation in departmental improvement activities and staff meetings is provided with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
    3. Assistance is proved to the OR staff with room turnovers to help decrease turnover times with no more than 2 documented corrective incident annually.
    4. Over head pages are responded to in less than 3 minutes with no more than 2 documented incidents of late or non-responses annually.
    5. Assistance with clerical OR desk duties after hours by answering phones or messages is provided with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
  4. Other Duties as Assigned: This will have been satisfactorily performed when
    1. Other duties as assigned are completed.

Qualifications
  • 1 year experience in OR Graduate of accredited Surgical Technologist program
  • High School or equivalent and Graduate of Accredited Surgical Technology program or 1 year experience in OR
  • Communication Customer Service computer Skills. Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • BLS certification within 6 months
