Food Service Lead (PCNs 20-5267, 20-6311, 20-6490)

What You Will Be Doing:

• Leads prisoner kitchen workers in the preparation and production of meals for approximately 500 prisoners per meal at WCC in the main kitchen or the satellite kitchen.
• Maintains security and control of prisoners and ensures safety and security measures are followed including State Department and Institution policies.
• Ensures that all modified diets are properly prepared for each meal which includes but is not limited to vegetarian diabetic allergy disruptive inmate diets religious diets and other diets as prescribed by the Medical Department.
• Oversees the production and preparation of all bakery items served at WCC.
• Ensures food pulled is accurate for the menu item being prepared and oversees the actual preparation and serving of food to inmates.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

WCC is a state adult correctional institution housing inmate of all custody levels. This position works in the kitchens and will interact with inmates daily.

RECRUITMENT DIFFICULTIES

Starting salary may be approved up to Step D - $27.54 if criteria are met.

Please be aware this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
