Job Summary
Position Title:E/M Inpatient Medical Coder (IP)
Specialty:Inpatient Evaluation & Management

Role Summary:
Assign appropriate E/M codes for inpatient encounters based on MDM and time-based documentation guidelines to ensure compliance and revenue integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review documentation for inpatient consults progress and discharge notes.
- Apply correct E/M levels based on MDM or total time.
- Work with CDI and HIM teams to resolve documentation gaps.
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of inpatient E/M and MDM logic.
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM CPT and HCPCS coding.
- Familiarity with CDI and hospital EMR systems.
General Requirements (All Roles)
- Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC COC CCS CCS-P or CRC).
- Knowledge of coding guidelines payer rules and compliance standards.
- Accuracy productivity and excellent communication.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
